Being online is pretty important in business. It’s proven to be the best ways to market yourself and your services these days. As we all know, everyone spends a great deal of their time online in this day and age. So, you find it easier to get people to notice you once you are putting yourself out there on social media. Plus, it’s fun and a great way to share with your friends. However, too much of anything is not good for you.
When on social media, we tend to spend more time than we should. I could get on Facebook for a specific purpose and then end up spending an hour just scrolling through memes and funny videos. Is it just me? We should take intentional time away from social media just for the sake of our mental health.
Here are some reasons social media detoxes are important
Social media is a wonderful tool, but that’s all it is. It’s a tool. It shouldn’t become our life. It shouldn’t be something that we obsess over. It should be something that we use with moderation and nothing more.
I’m not saying that this is an easy task to accomplish, but it’s definitely worth it. Once you have that balance, you’ll realize just how much social media has taken over your life.

When you start your own business of any kind, you’ll be embarking on a journey like no other. In our previous post: Things You Should Know Before Starting A Business, we stated that starting your business is definitely NOT for everyone and we stayed why.
It can be exciting and wonderful to start your own business, but there are definitely some hardships that come with it. So let’s talk about what those are so you can get an even more clear picture about what you may be getting yourself into!
Pro: You’re your own boss. Nobody can tell us what to do as bosses. We decide how to move forward and what to move forward with. That amount of freedom is pretty awesome. Plus, nobody can hire you cause you’re running things.
Con: You’re responsible for EVERYTHING. It doesn’t matter who you hire to work under you. Everything that happens with your business is a reflection of you. Have you ever been to McDonald’s and see the crew mess up someone’s order? The first thing they do is ask for a manager. Why? Because that’s who we all see as responsible for keeping that ship tight! It’s the same principle. It’s an extreme amount of pressure.
Pro: You can create financial freedom for yourself. Successful business owners continue to find more ways to rack up more and more dough. They end up being able to travel more and own vacation homes. This is because when you have your own business you open door for even more business opportunities.
Con: Super time consuming. At least at the very beginning, you work twice as long as a regular nine to fiver. You have to wear many hats and full many rolls. I have had days where I worked 16 hours straight because there’s so much to do before getting things off the ground!
Pro: Creative freedom. This is one of my favorite things about owning my own business. I can be as creative as I want. I can come up with any type of marketing tactic. Which means my own personal spin can be added to every single thing I do. You can experiment with all sorts of ideas. You can market however you’d like.
Con: It’s risky. When starting your own business, you have to invest a lot of money, time, and effort into things. With business, comes failures and losses. You are risking to lose all you invest and you have to be willing to take that risk otherwise none of it will seem worth it to you. If you don’t invest ANYTHING into your business… your business will never leave the ground.
If you are passionate about your business, then these cons will not make you want to runaway from starting one. However, if you find yourself completely turned off from business, maybe it just isn’t for you. Honestly, these issues made me want to go further even more. I wanted to push through those hardships and I see them as challenges to make it to the next level.
So, what are some pros and cons you’ve found in starting your own business? Did this inspire you or deter you from wanting to go out on your one? Comment down below and let us know!

Starting your own business is becoming a pretty popular notions this generation is filled with some of the most entrepreneurial minds in the world. Having a successful business, however, is not nearly as popular as just wanting to start one is. When you’re in elementary, middle, and high school, you are well aware of how much is ahead of you. I remember being in fifth grade and claiming I was going to live in a big five-story house and accomplish all of my dreams. It was never a question. I knew I’d sing, dance, and write for a living and there was not a doubt in my mind that this wasn’t something within my reach. That’s one of the great things about being a child. There is an unwavered feeling of optimism when it comes to what they desire. Did you have a Dream when you were a kid that you expected to just happen in your life?
If you have, then like me, if you’re not there right now you probably got hit pretty hard with that thing called LIFE. The older you get, the more you realize that it’s not as easy as you thought to just make all of your dreams come true. You start to doubt things and question your talents. You decide to do what pays and hopefully, still work towards that dream. Next thing you know, years have passed and you’re still no closer to that life that you’ve always wanted to live doing the things you’ve always wanted to do. Why is that?
Why haven’t you accomplished your goals?
So those are the reasons why you haven’t succeeded yet. Now don’t worry, all of these things are fixable. You can still accomplish everything that you ever desired and you don’t have to limit yourself. You can do more than your ever imagined. If any of these things fit you, acknowledge it and then take steps to start correcting it. You have to really acknowledge it. Don’t pretend as if none of these apply to you and the reason that you aren’t successful is because some outside source is keeping you from success. If that’s your thought process, then you don’t believe in yourself and your abilities and so one of these do apply to you, doesn’t it?
Which one of these do you think applies to you? Do you have the slightest idea how to how about correcting the issue? Comment below and let us know! Ask ya questions and we will either reply in the comments or create a post just for you!
To livestream on something like Instagram or Facebook is intimidating. You can’t edit a live or control how it will turn out or your surroundings. It’s like having your own live television show and the more viewers, the more watch yours you have the more nerve wracking it can be. At least on your own show you’re not seeing how many people are watching right in front of you as you’re trying to continue on with your livestream. Regardless of this, if you’re an influencer or content creator of any kind, YOU NEED TO BE GOING LIVE. Rather that’s on Instagram, Facebook, or YouTube live-streaming is becoming more and more necessary.
Going live is interactive and allow you to engage with your audience in a more personal light. Engagement is the key to growth as I’m sure all of you Bosses out there know by now. With live-streams your audience is able to directly connect with you in a raw way. It helps build trust. Plus, your live videos don’t just disappear and they can come back and be looked at. Instagram lives stay up for 24 hours while Facebook and YouTube (if you set it up to post as a regular video) lives are always there to look back on for your audience. There is a genuineness in live-streams that you don’t get in any other way. It’s growing more and more in popularity and your audience loves it. It’s a great way to grow.
So how do you use live-streaming to help you grow?
Tips for live-streaming
Hopefully live-streaming is something you plan on doing in the future (Social Peach intends to do it soon as well). If it is, what platform do you think you’ll use? Would you guys like a post comparing live-streams on each platform? What tips do you have for all of our influencers out there who have yet to go live? Comment down below!
A pattern I have seen a lot in he Influencer world is lack of self-confidence and self-worth. The internet is wreaking with people who put others down and troll under people’s platforms. It’s pretty sad how little life people have when it comes to the need to bring others down to lift themselves up.
We at Social Peach encourage you to love yourself first. In this business, that is key because the facts are that no matter how likeable you are you will eventually run into people who don’t like you. If you don’t have the foundation of love within yourself, social media will break your spirit and faith in your dreams.
Loving yourself is important, but the truth is, it isn’t always easy. The journey to self-love can be a hard one and everyone’s journey looks different. So, we wanted to share with you guys our journeys of self-love and what advice each social peach member would want all of our influencer friends to know!
Rikki- I grew up hating the way I looked. I was always smaller or less developed than my peers. I would get made fun of and while I pretended not to care, I was traumatized by a lot of the bullying that took place. The insecurities lasted until I was 18, long after bullying had stopped. People don’t realize how their behavior affects others long term. It was then that I started my self-love journey. I began to speak positive affirmations over myself and pray consistently to God, asking him to remind me that he doesn’t make mistakes. After awhile, I began to believe those affirmations and accept my flaws. Everyone has flaws, but your flaws do not define you. You’re beautiful. You’re courageous. You’re phenomenal. You’re capable of doing all of the things that you dream of doing. Don’t let ANYONE tell you different.
Deva: Self-confidence and self-worth is something I believe is achieved through practice just like with sports or hobbies. You have to practice the task daily in order to become better at it. It’s the same concept, you have to continuously tell your brain or remind yourself that you’re a truly incredible individual who’s capable of so much.
Now, it’s easier said than done to achieve a level of content with yourself. Being consumed with social media and influencers who have “perfect” bodies or lives can make it hard to be accepting of ourselves at times. We see ourselves constantly comparing if our physique or intellectual abilities are at par with what society deems as “perfect.” But who came up with this idea of perfect? If you look back at each decade, the idea of beauty changed every time. So, if you think about it, there really is no such thing as perfection. It’s merely an idea that’s planted in our brains to make us doubt who we are and what we should become. Perfection could never be attained because change is inevitable. Below is a video of women’s ideal body type throughout history!
How does one gain self-confidence and self-worth? Well, to start off, it’s 100% a CHOICE. You have to CHOOSE to put yourself first, you have to CHOOSE to believe and trust in yourself, and you have to CHOOSE to love yourself. You can’t expect to get to where you want to be if you don’t take the actions to get there. The brain is an incredibly complicated, unbelievable organ. What’s great about it though, is that it’s malleable. You have to train it daily to get to where you need to be mentally. It’s all a mental state, and it’s not always an easy journey.
An activity I would do when I fall back and struggle with self-confidence or self-worth is I would look at myself in the mirror and list 5 things I love about myself. I recommend everyone should do this, just to remind yourself of how unique and amazing you are. Self-confidence and worth is a work in progress but it’s not impossible. Remember, the more you practice self-care the closer you’ll be in accepting yourself.
Abayomi: Self-love, for me, has been one of the most difficult things to deal with. Not because I have immense hatred for myself or anything like that, but because I lived majority of my life being uncomfortable with myself and not realizing what self love actually feels like. Being able to identify the difference between caring for your basic needs and actually doing what’s best for yourself, the way that you would for someone you love, is a very different concepts and a very different feeling.
I have only recently really been getting into actual self love. The real deal. It’s taken me a couple years to really learn about myself and love myself the way that I am, but I couldn’t have done it alone. I am blessed to have many people in my life except me for who I am despite what I feel like my flaws are. And every time they show me that they appreciate me, a little voice in my head goes “well hey, maybe I’m not so bad after all.“
I consider myself to have several flaws, from being overweight to how loud and aggressive I can be at times; from how ‘weak’ I can be to how my mental illness affect the good things in my life. It has taken a lot of practice, a lot of breakdowns, and a lot of reassurance from the people that I love for me to start accepting these things instead of viewing them so negatively to the point where isolate myself from the very thing that I need: my community.
It’s a vicious cycle.
Luckily, I’m getting to the point where I can identify these things and train myself to do what’s best for my health. To care about myself in a way that has nothing to do with the way I look to people that put me in a box as an African-American female. Because I know the only ones who really matter don’t mind, and they love me for who I am. So I should love myself for who I am as well.
We hope that our stories and our thoughts help those of you out there who struggle know that you’re not alone. We all go through periods where self-love doesn’t come easy. What does your journey with self-love look like? Did any of our stories help? Comment below. We’d love to hear from you!!
